Jamaica at 50 and Marley

Today 6th August 2012, the 50th anniversary of Jamaica's independence seems a good time to remember one of the island's greatest sons:

Bob Marley - Trenchtown Rock [One Love Peace Concert] - Increase the peace! http://t.co/MRcuHUzU

Millie Small

Definitely worth hearing this again.

Millie Small - My Boy Lollipop (1964) on YouTube http://t.co/6JbZ8NPp - Can remember playing this (45rpm single!) into the 1970s :) http://t.co/6JbZ8NPp

Just Chillin'

Suppose its that time of year when we all start thinking about all the "could have beens" and the "should have beens", so here are one or two tunes to help you on your way.

This is so laid-back you'll probably want to hit the replay button once its over. ishe-x-daru-come-close

A friend introduced me to this song Tom Waits - Kentucky Avenue and for that I shall be eternally grateful.

I hadn't heard of Vince Guaraldi or his Trio until yesterday now I can't stop playing Vince Guaraldi Trio - Manha De Carnival

And lastly in this slightly melacholic vein there is Fabrizio Paterlini - Autumn Stories Week #14 for which if you have tears prepare to shed them now.
